Boards and authorities


The following boards and authorities are established under legislation and form part of the Department of Biodiversity Conservation and Attractions. Information about the functions and powers of each of the boards can be found in the relevant legislation. 

The Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority is responsible for the care, control and management of Kings Park and Bold Park.  The authority is established under the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority Act 1998, which clearly defines the functions and powers of the authority.

Conservation and Parks Commission is established in accordance with s21 of the Conservation and Land Management Act 1984 .

Perth Zoo is administered by the Zoological Parks Authority which is constituted under the authority of the Zoological Parks Authority Act 2001.

The Rottnest Island Authority administers the management of the island under the provisions of the Rottnest Island Authority Act 1987 and Rottnest Island Regulations.

The Swan River Trust is vested with the care, control, and management of the River Reserve with various responsibilities including developing policies, and preparing and reporting on strategic documents relating to the Riverpark.
