The Mentored Aboriginal Training Employment Scheme (known as MATES) is a successful departmental initiative that supports Aboriginal people—primarily in regional Western Australia—through employment and structured qualification pathways in conservation and land management.

Australian VET Conference Awards (Vocational Educational Training)

The MATES team has been selected as a finalist in two award categories:

  • Outstanding Contribution to Vocational Education and Training
  • Regional and Remote Training Excellence

The awards ceremony will be held in Sydney from 12–13 March.
