The Parks and Wildlife Service is part of the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA).

We manage Western Australia's parks, forests and reserves for wildlife conservation, sustainable recreation and tourism, while protecting communities from bushfire.

Staff within DBCA’s Parks and Visitor Services (PVS) work collaboratively to increase appreciation, knowledge and enjoyment of WA’s biodiversity, parks and conservation areas through outstanding and safe visitor experiences. We work closely with Aboriginal Traditional Owners, recreation groups, commercial tourism and event operators, the apiary industry and the broader community. PVS is involved in expanding WA’s protected areas to conserve significant landscapes and values, and partner with Aboriginal people to care for the natural, cultural and heritage values of Country.

The division contributes to major government initiatives such as:

  • joint management planning for CALM Act lands and waters
  • visitor and recreation activity planning
