The Onslow information session will be held at Onslow Sports Club on Tuesday, 9 December 2025 from 6pm, with the Exmouth session set to take place in February 2026 (exact date and location to be confirmed), with more engagement opportunities planned for the first half of 2026.

The information sessions will cover key phases of the planning process, including milestones such as the anticipated release of the draft zoning scheme in the third quarter of 2026 for preliminary targeted consultation with community and stakeholders.

This will be followed by a revision phase incorporating feedback, the release of a draft joint management plan (including the zoning scheme) for a minimum three-month public consultation period, and ultimately, the finalisation of both the zoning scheme and joint management plan.

DBCA Parks and Visitor Services Executive Director Luke Bentley encouraged locals to attend the information sessions and ask questions about the proposed marine park and find out how they can be involved in shaping its future.

“The upcoming sessions will also offer insight into the Gulf’s ecological values, current marine science and planned activities for 2026,” Luke said.

“DBCA is committed to ensuring the views of the community and stakeholders are accounted for early in the planning process and are reflected in the final zoning scheme.”

Since the proposed marine park was announced by the Premier on 5 September 2025, DBCA has held several meetings with key stakeholders, including the shires of Exmouth and Ashburton, fishers, commercial tour operators, State Government agencies, and peak bodies with interests in the planning area.
