Hon Stephen Dawson MLC
Minister for Environment; Disability Services; and Electoral Affairs
Stephen was born in Dublin and migrated with his family to Australia in 1989. Stephen studied at Edith Cowan University, and in 1995 joined the Labor party.
Stephen was elected to represent the Mining & Pastoral Region at the 2013 State election. He served as Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne and Goldfields-Esperance regions before being promoted to the position of Shadow Minister for Mental Health, Disability Services and Child Protection in September 2013. He was appointed a Minister in the McGowan Government in 2017.
Hon Paul Papalia MLA
Minister for Tourism; Racing and Gaming; Small Business; Defence Issues; Citizenship; and Multicultural Interests
Raised in the small south-west town of Burekup, Paul entered the Royal Australian Navy in 1978 and served in the military for 26 years. Paul was elected to the seat of Peel in February 2007, elected to the new seat of Warnbro in September 2008 and re-elected to that seat in 2013 and 2017. Paul served in the Shadow Ministry after WA Labor lost office in 2008 as Shadow Minister for Tourism, Corrective Services and Defence Issues.
In March 2017, Paul was appointed as a Minister in the new McGowan Government.
